I went on a road trip to visit my cousin in Salt Lake City and stopped by Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho to stargaze. I wasn’t quite sure what the place looked like when I got there, but the sunrise revealed a fairly otherworldly landscape! Aptly named monument.

The trail cuts through ancient lava flows and fissures in the earth from volcanic activity under the crust.
